Wow, is it the end?

Wow, I can't believe it. Just a few weeks, I went through these 23 and 1/2 things. Thanks for the team, I have learned a lot new stuff from these weeks. Even some of them I have know, it is good discover more.
My favor discovers are image generators, RSS, Flickr, and Del.icio.us. Especially the Del.icio.us. functions. It is really make my life easier. Even some of the things are not that excited, but it is also good to know. Overall, the program is great (A++).
Learning is fun, and is part of lifestyle, too. As someone said:" anyone who stops learning is old, whether at twenty or eighty. Anyone who keeps learning stays young". As a librarian, we need to keep learning to catch the trends. It is not the choice. We have to.
I really appreciate that the Library and the team providing this excellent program for us. And I hope it is not the end. The Library and the team should keep the program continue in someways, such as posting some new things regularly and let the staff members explore the high tech and useful information/resources.
Again, Thank you, and I will continue to keep learning, to keep me young.

eMedia Center at Queens

Browsing the eMedia Center in the Queens Library website is fun. I like the ebooks, emagazines, and the evideos. The audiobook is OK. But I am not get used to listen the book yet, I prefer "read" the book. The ebook is good for travel. The only thing is that time. 7 days seem not enough time to enjoy a good book, especially when you are in traveling. I have downed a ebook in my computer to read it, I have browsed the articles from the emagazines. It was fun and enjoyable. I also tried to listen the audiobook, but can't finish it. Overall, the services are great and the technology is simple to use. The only thing is that the collection needs to be enriched, more good and popular titles.

podcast

I reviewed all of three popular podcast directories, including podcast.net, podcastalley.com and yahoo audio. Agin, these websites contain a lot of information, soem are useful, some are useless, some are fun and interesting, some are boring. You need to careful and patient when you browse these web. I did find some interesting and useful stuff such as computer hardware, investing, ect. But it took me quick a lot of time to go throught it.
I like the podcastalley the best. It covers a lot of information in one page when you get into the podcast item. It gives you the sence what the podcast item is before you listen it. The Yahoo audio is the wrost.
It is the high tech, and it is the future, so the library should follow the trend. We can utilize the websites to make the promotional announcement, or library news, or programs.

YouTube

One a while, I will browse the YouTube, when I am feeling boring. A lot of people (teen) love the site, I know. But I am not so cracy about it. It is fun, sometime, you can find some interesting and funny stuff, but also a lot of useless stuff, too. You can relax and have some fun when you browse the web, if you have time.
Because a lot of visitors, the Library could utilize the site to promote its program and other services. The following link is the Queens Library promotion video.

Craigslist

Craigslist is one of the Web 2.0 Awards websites. it is the community-related website. I like this website. It has no any fancy stuff. Simple, easy and straight forwaed. Visitor can find a lot of useful community information in the website. And visitor can post his/her information in the website, too. I like the buying and selling portions. It is really useful for the family.
The Library can utilize the web to post its porgram schedules and other announcements, too. This website is to the community and for the community.

Google Docs

I have created an account at google docs and tested its functions. It is cool. Easy to understand and use. It will benefit a lot of people that don't have MS Office application. With its developing, I hope it will replace the MS Office. Thing about it, it is free and it could access anywhere. MS Offcie costs at least $200 and only work in one computer. The only concern is the security. Hope that it wouldn't be the problem.

Social network

Like MySpace, Facebook is another social netwrok that people (teen?) love. It is ture, people can find a lot of interesting things in these websites. But I like myspace better. Don't ask me why.
In facebook, the "Biread" and "Libguides Librarian" are the best applications that help librarians doing their work, especailly for the collection development and subject reference. And "Myflickr" is everyone's favor, I believe.
