What I learn from 7 1/2 Habits

What is “Easy” and what is “Hard”

After watched the video presentation about 7 ½ habits for life-long learning. I felt that all these habits were essentials for learning. You have to follow and obey them no matter “easy” or “hard” if you really want to learn something.
Since it is the assignment, I will score them from 1 (easiest) to 10 (hardest):

1, Begin with the end in mind – 2
Set up the goal is easy. Everyone has set up some goals in sometime for some reasons. Even you don’t need to know why and how.

2, Accept responsibility for your own learning – 4
It is easy to say but a little hard to complete. For example, signing up for the training class, you will say, I am too busy now, maybe next time. You really need to keep it in your mind what you need to do and how you can achieve it.

3, View problems as challenges – 6
Again, it is easy to say but not easy to do. The main issue is how we treat the problems and find the alternative ways to deal with the problems. Sometime you can’t solve the problems by yourself. How to find help (related to habit 5) is the most important when you fact the big problems.

4, Have confidence in yourself as a competent, effective learner – 2
It is not a problem for me.

5, Create your own learning toolbox – 4
Yes, everyone needs to create his/her toolbox. But the main point is you need to choose the right tools. Fortunately, working in the Library, I can select the right tools for my learning and studying. This is one of the biggest benefits becoming a reference librarian.

6, Use technology to your advantage – 4
I know where I can find and utilize the high-tech even I am not so crazy about it.

7, Teach mentor others – 4
I always try to teach something to my kids. Sometime they listen but sometime they don’t. I also have my duties to train the new librarians. We could learn together.

8, Play – 7
It is the problem; I don’t have enough time for it. I know it is important, but just could not find enough time to play with it.
